CLOCK #1
What are our personal relationships with objects? And what are the ideas that we project onto them? A broken clock is still accurate twice a day... but you probably wouldn't keep it hanging on your wall and expect to judge when to leave in the morning to catch the 8:15 to Liverpool Street... The clock has lost its use, it no longer functions. But surely function is merely an idea that we project onto the object. We could equally state that our existing idea of function is no longer fitting for our new experience of the clock. If a clock is wired to a motion detector, it is possible for its perceived function to be to be linked to the spatial relationship of the owner. When a person gets to close the clock is switched off, with it only resuming when the person moves away.
